I installed the app but the keyboard is not there
A keyboard has to be switched on before iOS offers it. Open Settings, then General, then Keyboard, then Keyboards, tap Add New Keyboard, and choose Bopomo under third-party keyboards. Then hold the globe key in any app to switch to it.
Do I have to turn on Full Access?
No, and you should not. Bopomo works completely without it and never asks. If iOS offers you the switch, leave it off.
Do I need to type tones?
Only if you want to. Type the sounds you are sure of and the candidates appear. Adding a tone narrows the list, and typing the wrong tone rules a candidate out, so it is a filter rather than a requirement.
A word I want is not showing
Try fewer symbols, since the list matches from the start of what you have typed. If you added a tone, check it is the right one. The dictionary also has a level filter: open the gear in the candidate strip and set the levels to All.
Some meanings are in English even though I chose another language
Translation is being filled in gradually. Anything not yet translated falls back to English rather than showing nothing, so you always get a meaning.
How do I change the language?
In the Bopomo app, not in the keyboard. The keyboard can read that choice but cannot save it, which is a consequence of not asking for Full Access.
Found a word with the wrong meaning?
Send it over. The dictionary is built from public sources and the translations are being reviewed language by language, so a concrete example is genuinely useful.
